WARRI ARTS FESTIVAL is a art and tourism event created to cause a positive change if the mind of the public can view the creative space in the city of Warri, Nigeria. The event is organized by the Dexodus theatre house and her partner God's own theatre (GOT)
The festival was first held with the title A’far 2019 and it is billed to happen annually following the state celebration anniversary. It is held at the outdoor and indoor of Warri metropolis and it's brings different performing and creative artists from around the state to convene in Warri, Warri State. The Festival activities include but are not limited to performances, workshops, and memorial site visits. This year’s festival titled kpakam 2020 is designed to build on the success of A’far 2019 and ensure that the festival offers unforgettable experiences to all stakeholders; audience, producers, performers, volunteers and everyone that will come in contact with the festival in any way. We are fully committed to ensuring that Warri arts Festival becomes more impactful to the youths, arts, culture and the society at large.
The Arts has manifested itself world over as an efficient form of communicating, expressing opinions, airing issues and sharing values about all aspects of life that affect humanity. We are convinced that arts as a forum for communication, expression, reflection, innovation and creativity is a key motor for social change. The pidgin word kpakam generally relates to “everything is ok”. Our festival aims at creating an avenue where people from different walks of life can come together and speak to each other in the language of Arts either performing or visual.
Well at least everything don kpakam…
Every day, in the streets of one of the most vibrant cities in the southern region of Nigeria, you’re bound to hear this statement. It is an old Warri adage which indicates the zeal, strength, tenacity and grit a Warri-bred individual popularly called ‘waffarian’ exhibits in character and attitude. So you might be wondering what makes this afropolitan city tick well, according to some misconceptions from comedians, Warri is widely known for its aggressive locale and inhabitants. However, I’m going to be all tongue in cheek here and say “Warri is awesome”, its people are some of the most welcoming, fascinating and dexterous people you’ll ever meet even in the entertainment industry.
Nice
